Santa Pola

It is some years since we last time visited Santa Pola. We found a good and big under ground parking garage, i.e. Parking de Castillo, the castle parking. Of course we had to visit the castle, and in the courtyard we found the entrance to a chapel and also to a museum. The museum, Museo del Mar, had two departments, an archeological and one for sea and fishing. They were both very interesting and informative. Indeed recommended.

We made a stroll in some of the streets. It is obvious that the old town is old. On our walk we found a nice «lagoon» which proved to be the Parque el Palmeral with palms of course and an excavated Roman Villa with mosaic floors.

Turning direction and walking to the harbour was a nice experience. The harbour front line looks relatively new giving the fishing and the tourist boats (frequenting Tabarca)  modern facilities. This is also the case with the facilities for the leisure boats.

Along a wide stroll path at the harbour front, we found a number of restaurants and cafés which in the warm time of year for sure is a dominant meeting place.

Not having seen all Santa Pola can offer, we for sure will make a later return.

Some information about Santa Pola also found on our Costa Blanca page.
